Royal Oaks is seeking a Custodian II to maintain a clean, welcoming retirement community in Sun City, AZ. Compensation starts at $17.85 per hour and the position is full-time, Tue-Sat, 2:00pm–10:30pm.

Requires at least one year of floor care experience; high school diploma or GED preferred. Benefits provided; opportunity to support residents and staff in daily operations.

Qualifications

• Must have one year experience in floor care, including scrubbing, buffing, stripping, waxing and carpet extracting.

Responsibilities

• Cleans spaces by sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, scrubbing and polishing.
• Operates floor care equipment (auto scrubber, carpet extractor, steam cleaner, wet/dry vacuum) for floors and carpets.
• Assists floor maintenance crew with stripping, buffing, burnishing, waxing and polishing floors.
• Restocks supplies such as tissue, towels, and soap; maintains storage areas.
• Reports repairs to Facilities department and assists in setup for events.
• Performs other custodial duties to maintain cleanliness and sanitary conditions.

Position Summary:

Under the direct supervision of the Environmental Services Supervisor, performs routine manual tasks in maintaining the cleanliness, sanitary conditions and appearance of our facility.

Brief Overview of Major Duties:

• Cleans garden and assisted living homes, apartments, rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevators, stairways and any other assigned areas by sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, scrubbing, and polishing; to include light upholstery cleaning.
• Cleaning of Spa Rooms and Equipment except the inside of the Tub and that portion of the Transfer Chair inside the tub when being used.
• Operates a variety of floor care equipment to including but not limited to an auto scrubber, carpet extractor, steam cleaner and wet/dry vacuum for cleaning and shampooing carpeted areas and floors, and power washing.
• Assists on floor maintenance crew whose work involves the principal responsibility for stripping, buffing, burnishing, polishing and waxing floors with industrial grade machinery.
• Ability to use proper/correct dilutions of cleaning agent as instructed by the manufacturer.
• Empties and decontaminates trash containers. Disposes of infectious waste when necessary.
• Assists as needed on set-up crew with principal responsibilities for setting up tables, chairs, and other furniture for special meetings, banquets, auctions or other occasions.
• Replenishes supplies such as toilet tissue, paper towels, and hand cleaner/soap.
• Keeps storage areas well stocked, clean, and organized.
• Reports building or equipment repairs to the Facilities department.
• Performs many varied custodial tasks related to the maintenance of the facility.
• Performs custodial related duties required to maintain cleanliness and sanitary conditions.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Required Skills and Abilities:

• Has knowledge of custodial, housekeeping, laundry operations, and floor care.
• Is organized, able to multi-task, think creatively and adapt to different situations.
• Preferably has knowledge on using iPad. Training will be provided.
• Must be able to complete training on computer and/or other devices.
• Maintain competency in the position and knowledge of trade/industry advances and new technologies.
• Must be able to effectively communicate in English with all levels of staff, residents, and guests.

Education and Experience:

• Must have one year experience in floor care to include scrubbing, buffing, stripping, waxing, and carpet extracting.
• Preferably has a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Preferably has one year of experience in custodial, housekeeping, or other related work.

Licenses and Certifications:

• Has current and valid Fingerprint clearance card or can apply for one within 20 days of hire.
• If driving duties apply, has current, valid driver’s license. Driving record must meet the criteria set forth by Royal Oaks’ insurance carrier.

Physical Requirements:

• Is able to carry/lift/push/pull up to 50 pounds.
• May need to operate a fire extinguisher.
• Is able to assist in evacuation procedures.
