Job summary

KCU is seeking a Custodian I to perform general cleaning tasks across University buildings, maintaining a safe and clean campus environment. Responsibilities include dusting, mopping, vacuuming, trash collection, restroom sanitation, and reporting maintenance needs.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, ability to communicate in English, prior custodial experience preferred, and physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

The Custodian I performs general cleaning tasks within University buildings.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Performs cleaning functions including dust, mop, wet mop, vacuum, gathers and disposes trash, washes walls, vents, windows, fixtures, etc.
• Cleans restrooms using germicide solution for control of bacteria and odors, polishes fixtures, replaces disposables such as toilet tissues, paper towels and fills soap dispensers
• Represent department and the University favorably and in accordance with established Core Values and expectations
• Perform other duties as assigned or directed to meet the goals and objectives of the organization

Qualifications:

• Knowledge typically obtained through a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, including reading, writing, and understanding information necessary to perform the essential functions of the position
• Cleaning/custodial experience preferred
• Must have manual ability to perform general cleaning, which may include moving furniture
• Requires frequent bending, stooping, reaching, walking, and the ability to lift50 pounds.
