Salary Range

Starting at $39,060 annually ($3,255/month or $18.78/hour). Compensation is commensurate with experience and qualifications. This position is eligible for overtime under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).

Position Summary

The Facilities Services Department at UCCS seeks a motivated individual for the Custodian I position. Responsibilities include cleaning and supporting UCCS buildings, which encompass academic, non-academic, and administrative spaces. This includes offices, classrooms, labs, restrooms, health and recreation spaces, residence halls, and public areas. Support for campus events is also required. Funding depends on auxiliary revenue availability.

Essential Functions

1. Clean, sanitize, and maintain restrooms, classrooms, auditoriums, offices, and other spaces, including floors, windows, fixtures, furniture, and surfaces.
2. Remove trash and recycle materials following established procedures.
3. Provide coverage for other areas as needed.
4. Replenish supplies and maintain inventory to meet standards.
5. Perform special cleaning projects and support campus events.
6. Report maintenance deficiencies and ensure workspace standards are met.
7. Utilize WebTMA and department systems for work management.
8. Follow safety protocols and incorporate sustainability practices.
9. Perform interim, restorative, and project cleaning tasks as assigned.
10. Conduct minor maintenance to ensure performance of daily tasks.
11. Assist with snow removal and ice mitigation as scheduled.

Qualifications

• Successful background check and pre-employment physical, including ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Valid driver’s license and Colorado residency required.
• Experience in custodial services preferred, especially in high-volume settings.
• Ability to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Understanding of hazardous materials and safety procedures.
