Job summary

South Florida State College is seeking a part-time janitorial staff member to perform general cleaning of campus buildings and facilities with flexible day shift hours. Responsibilities

• Cleans lavatories and restocks lavatory supplies.
• Cleans windows.
• Operates floor scrubbing, polishing, vacuums, and rug cleaners.
• Moves furniture, equipment, and materials as directed.
• Assists with college events (load-in/load-out, traffic control) as needed.
• Records work time and materials used.
• Contributes to unit planning and institutional effectiveness.
• Performs other duties as assigned; disaster essential position.

Job Description:

Part-time, year-round position responsible for the general cleaning of campus buildings and facilities. Flexible day shift hours.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Sweeps, mops, scrubs, waxes, and polishes floors as directed.
• Dusts furniture and disposes of waste papers.
• Cleans lavatories and restocks lavatory supplies.
• Cleans windows.
• Operates the following equipment in a satisfactory manner: floor scrubbing machine, floor polishing machine, wet or dry floor vacuum machine, and wet or dry foam rug-cleaning machine.
• Moves furniture, equipment, and materials as directed.
• Assists with College special events (including load-in and load-out of shows, set-up, clean-up, traffic control in parking lots, etc.) as needed.
• Records personal work time and quantities of materials used on specific jobs as directed.
• Contributes to unit planning, assessment, and college institutional effectiveness efforts.
• Acts in accordance with local, state, and federal laws/regulations as well as College policies and procedures.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Educational:High school diploma (or equivalency) preferred.

Experiential:Janitorial/maintenance experience preferred.

Other:Position involves moderately heavy manual work, including lifting and moving heavy equipment and supplies.
