Job summary

Daytona State College seeks a custodial associate for our daytime campus facilities. The role requires six months of custodial cleaning and floor maintenance experience, plus a valid Florida driver's license to operate college vehicles as needed.

You will perform trash pickup, surface cleaning, board maintenance, and floor care across classrooms, labs, offices, theatres, and other spaces, with an 12:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. schedule. Forklift certification is required within one year of hire.

Qualifications

• Six months recent and verifiable custodial cleaning and floor maintenance experience.
• Must have a valid Florida Driver’s License to drive college vehicles when necessary.
• Forklift certification required within one year of employment.
• Physical ability to walk, stand, stoop, reach, push, pull, and lift at least 20 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Picks up and removes trash from classrooms, labs, offices, restrooms and theatres and secures areas.
• Cleans chalkboards, whiteboards, erasers daily; turns off lights and secures doors.
• Cleans glass, chrome and exits in classrooms, labs, offices, theatres, gym and other facilities.
• Damp/wet mops vinyl and tile floors; vacuums floors/carpets; performs floor maintenance (stripping, waxing, buffing).

Job description

• This position requires six (6) months recent and verifiable custodial building cleaning and floor maintenance experience.
• Candidate must have a valid Florida Driver’s License to drive college vehicles when necessary.
• Candidate must have their own transportation to report to other college locations as assigned.
• Candidate must be forklift certified within one year of employment.

Working Hours: 12:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.

• Picks up and removes all trash from assigned areas in classrooms, labs, offices, restrooms and theatres, etc. (or other areas as directed). Cleans all chalkboards, blackboards, whiteboards, and erasers on a daily basis. Turns off all lights and secures doors.
• Cleans glass, chrome, and exits on all college facilities as designated, including but not limited to classrooms, labs, offices, theatres, lecture rooms, conference rooms, gymnasium, amphitheaters. etc.
• Damp and wet mops vinyl and tile floors. Vacuums floors and carpets. Performs floor maintenance such as vacuuming, shampooing, stripping and waxing, buffing, etc., in assigned areas as directed.

• This position requires walking, standing, stooping, stretching, pushing, pulling, reaching, and lifting all of the time, exerting at least 20 pounds of force on a recurring basis.
• This position will experience exposure to indoor and outdoor temperatures.
• Must be able to follow oral and/or written communications.
• Must have computer knowledge to clock in/out and view other personnel related information.
