Job summary

Daytona State College is seeking a reliable custodial worker to maintain classrooms, labs, offices, and common areas. The role includes trash removal, daily cleaning of boards, and securing facilities. You will perform floor care and respond to facility needs during the assigned shift.

Working hours are 12:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Candidates must have a Florida driver’s license, own transportation for travel between locations, and forklift certification within one year of employment.

Qualifications

• Six (6) months recent and verifiable custodial cleaning and floor maintenance experience.
• Valid Florida Driver’s License to drive college vehicles when necessary.
• Own transportation to report to other college locations as assigned.
• Forklift certification within one year of employment.

Responsibilities

• Picks up and removes trash from assigned areas in classrooms, labs, offices, restrooms and theatres; cleans boards daily and secures doors.
• Cleans glass, chrome, and exits across college facilities including classrooms, labs, offices, theatres, lecture rooms, conference rooms, gym, and amphitheaters.
• Damp and wet mops vinyl and tile floors; vacuums floors and carpets; performs floor maintenance (strip/wax/buff/shampoo) as directed.

• This position requires six (6) months recent and verifiable custodial building cleaning and floor maintenance experience.
• Candidate must have a valid Florida Driver’s License to drive college vehicles when necessary.
• Candidate must have their own transportation to report to other college locations as assigned.
• Candidate must be forklift certified within one year of employment.

Working Hours: 12:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.

• Picks up and removes all trash from assigned areas in classrooms, labs, offices, restrooms and theatres, etc. (or other areas as directed). Cleans all chalkboards, blackboards, whiteboards, and erasers on a daily basis. Turns off all lights and secures doors.
• Cleans glass, chrome, and exits on all college facilities as designated, including but not limited to classrooms, labs, offices, theatres, lecture rooms, conference rooms, gymnasium, amphitheaters. etc.
• Damp and wet mops vinyl and tile floors. Vacuums floors and carpets. Performs floor maintenance such as vacuuming, shampooing, stripping and waxing, buffing, etc., in assigned areas as directed.

• This position requires walking, standing, stooping, stretching, pushing, pulling, reaching, and lifting all of the time, exerting at least 20 pounds of force on a recurring basis.
• This position will experience exposure to indoor and outdoor temperatures.
• Must be able to follow oral and/or written communications.
• Must have computer knowledge to clock in/out and view other personnel related information.
