Job summary

Porter-Leath is seeking a Custodian Floater to maintain and ensure the safety, cleanliness, and operability of all agency buildings and grounds. The role requires occasional reporting to multiple sites and includes incentive pay and mileage reimbursement.

The ideal candidate will have basic custodial skills, experience with maintenance equipment, and a preference for nonprofit work. A valid driver's license and reliable transportation are required.

Qualifications

• Must pass a basic standard skills test.
• HSD or GED preferred.
• Prior custodian experience is preferred.
• Experience working in non-profit preferred.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for daily building maintenance: sweep and mop floors, vacuum carpets, empty garbage, clean restrooms, stock supplies, and assist with basic repairs.
• Weekly maintenance tasks: clean windows, doors, walls, railings, water fountains, mats, chairs, and equipment; dust classrooms and common areas.
• Open building for daily operations; secure building, set alarms, and lock gates at end of day.
• Set up facilities for meetings.
• Report maintenance concerns to Supervisor.
• Assist with site traffic when staff are unavailable.
• Contribute to team effort by performing other duties as assigned.

Under the direction of the Custodial Supervisor, the Custodian Floater will have the responsibilities of maintaining and assuring buildings and grounds owned and/or leased by the agency are safe, operable, clean and neat. This role requires reporting to different sites on an as needed basis. This position has an incentive pay and offer mileage reimbursement.

Qualifications

Essential Job Functions

1. Responsible for overall maintenance of the building as needed on a daily basis: sweeps and mops floors, vacuums all carpeting, empties all garbage, cleans all restrooms, maintains soap, paper towels, and tissue supplies, monitors all areas for debris and refuse, and assists in day-to-day basic repairs and maintenance of building.
2. Responsible for overall maintenance of the building as needed on a weekly basis: cleans windows, doors, walls, railings, water fountains, mats, chairs, and equipment, dusts classrooms, common areas and office furniture, and maintains all cleaning tools and equipment.
3. Opens building for daily operations. Secures building, sets alarm, and locks gates at the end of each day.
4. Setups facilities for meetings.
5. Reports maintenance concerns to Supervisor.
6. Assists with site traffic when appointed staff are unavailable.
7. Contributes to team effort by performing other duties and projects as assigned.

Requirements

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Knowledge of custodian and general maintenance skills.
• Knowledge of custodian and maintenance equipment, including basic tools and lawn equipment.

Physical Demands

This position regularly requires the employee to stand, walk, touch, feel, reach, see, hear and speak. Frequently sit, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl. Regularly lifts and/or moves up to 30 pounds. Occasionally lifts and/or moves up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and color vision. Occasionallyexposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. This is a non-smoking workplace/smoke free environment.

Special Conditions

Must have and maintain a valid state driver's license with good driving record. Must have and maintain reliable transportation, valid vehicle registration, and state appropriate level of insurance. Ability to travel to all sites, including administrative headquarters.
