Job summary

The Wirt County Board of Education seeks a Custodian for the Board of Education Office in Elizabeth, WV. This is a contract/hourly position with up to 5 hours per week, Monday through Friday, outside regular hours. Pay will be based on the custodian's job classification and approved rates.

Qualifications include a High School graduate or GED, passing the state mandated custodian test, and the ability to perform duties efficiently. Applications close 11:59 pm on September 1, 2026.

Responsibilities

• Cleans, sweeps, dusts, and mops the meeting areas and offices

• Removes all waste and trash as needed
• Washes windows as needed
• Sweeps sidewalks and removes debris from grounds as needed
• Reports repairs beyond his/her ability to the maintenance foreman
• Ensures that unnecessary lights are off to conserve energy and doors are locked
• Maintains the building and grounds in a clean, attractive manner
• Maintains positive work habits.
• Performs duties efficiently and productively
• Performs other related duties assigned by the Wirt County Schools Superintendent or Director of Support Services

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to perform tasks requiring strength to lift, push, pull or carry objects up to 50 lbs.
• Must be able to perform tasks that require flexibility to bend, stretch, twist or reach with body, arms and/or legs.
• Must be able to climb steps and ladders up to designated areas to perform job
