Job summary

Parkway School District in the St. Louis area is seeking a day shift Custodian at Bellerive Elementary.

This 12-month, 8-hour position runs 6:00 am to 2:30 pm and is non-exempt, with starting pay of $17.50 per hour and opportunity to progress with verifiable experience. The role focuses on cleaning, floor care, bathroom sanitation, trash removal and light moving of furniture, supporting a safe and healthy school environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform custodial tasks to maintain floors, bathrooms, and common areas.
• Vacuuming, wet mopping, cleaning, stocking bathrooms and disposing of trash.
• Move furniture and equipment as needed to support cleaning operations.
• Ensure a clean, healthy, and safe work environment for students and staff.

Hours: 6:00 am to 2:30 pm

Starting Pay: $17.50 per hour (and up based on verifiable experience)

Essential Job Functions

Perform a variety of custodial functions that will maintain a clean, healthy, and safe work environment including maintaining floors; vacuuming, wet mopping, cleaning, and stocking bathrooms; extracting of various floor surfaces; emptying and disposing of trash, dusting, mopping; and moving furniture/miscellaneous equipment as needed.

Qualifications

• Proven stable employment history, excellent attendance record and motivation to consistently perform quality work
• Willingness to follow written, verbal and demonstrated instructions
• Excellent interpersonal skills to work harmoniously with teachers and staff
• Demonstrated customer service orientation
• Mobility to move in and around the school to perform work assignments; able to lift up to 50 pounds; and able to climb ladders up to 8 feet
• Able to understand and communicate in English for basic job-related duties and response for safety
