Position Overview

Akima Facilities Operations is seeking a Day Shift custodian to support the NIH Contact in Bethesda, MD. Responsibilities include:

1. Performing entry-level to moderate custodial work, including cleaning and maintaining interior areas of federal buildings.
2. Maintaining custodial equipment, requesting supplies, and assisting with minor equipment repairs.
3. Training lower-level custodial staff and working under general supervision.
4. Cleaning administrative areas, laboratories, common areas, hallways, restrooms, and other premises.
5. Performing various cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, polishing floors, and cleaning fixtures.
6. Executing special cleaning projects and daily cleaning duties using appropriate equipment and chemicals.
7. Assisting with emergency spills, maintaining equipment, and reporting repairs.

Qualifications

1. At least 3 years of custodial experience.
2. High school diploma or GED.
3. Knowledge of cleaning techniques, procedures, and equipment operation.
4. Ability to read, write, understand, and speak English.
5. Physical ability to stand, walk, bend, and reach for prolonged periods.
