Job summary

Housing Works in New York seeks a Custodian for the Emergency & Transitional Housing Program to maintain cleanliness and safety of the program space, including offices, common areas and participant rooms. You will perform minor repairs, assist with room turnover, and help ensure the site meets internal and external standards.

Reporting to the Senior Program Coordinator or Operations Manager, you will use approved cleaning products, wear PPE as needed, and support food service setup.

• Strong written documentation and communication skills.
• Good problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and with a team.

Responsibilities

• Utilize approved cleaning products in accordance with agency standards, practices and instructed use.
• Utilize PPE when necessary for spills or decontamination processes.
• Clean common areas, staff offices and participant rooms; sanitize surfaces regularly.
• Assist with setup and removal of onsite food services and room turnover.
• Engage in cleaning activities for inclement weather and ensure program standards are met.
