Job summary

Hawaiian Building Maintenance is seeking a dedicated custodian to join our Waianae team. The role covers cleaning and maintaining a commercial location, with a 32-hour workweek from Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM. The position offers competitive wages and benefits.

Responsibilities include cleaning common areas, restocking supplies, and reporting maintenance issues. Prior janitorial experience is preferred but not mandatory; training available.

Qualifications

• Must pass HBM prescreen check.
• High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
• Previous custodian, housekeeping experience or related experience is preferred, and willing to train.
• Must have good public relations skills and communication.
• Applicants must perform basic manual labor, clean common areas, frequently lift, push, press, pull, carry a minimum of 30lbs (up to 50lbs), be able to reach overhead, grasp objects, bend, kneel, crawl, squat, climb, stretch, walk up and down stairway, use of elevator, use a ladder climb up and down and stand throughout their shifts.

• Maintain cleanliness in common areas throughout the facility.
• Execute a comprehensive cleaning routine including sweeping, dusting, mopping, scrubbing, sanitizing, and vacuuming.
• Empty trash and recycling into designated bins and replace liners.
• Wipe down surfaces and clean up spills.
• Assist with grounds maintenance and restocking supplies as needed.

We are seeking a highly motivated, reliable, and trustworthy individual with excellent customer service skills and detailed oriented individual to clean and maintain a commercial location. While previous experience in janitorial, housekeeping, or a related field is preferred, it is not mandatory. The ideal candidate will also be responsible for cleaning common areas, maintaining inventory of cleaning supplies, and reporting any maintenance issues. Strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently or with a team are essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods


• Willingness to work in all weather conditions


• Strong communication skills, with proficiency in English (reading, writing, and speaking)


• Maintain cleanliness in common areas throughout the facility

Execute a comprehensive cleaning routine that includes

• Sweeping, dusting, mopping, scrubbing, sanitizing, and vacuuming


• Emptying trash and recycling into designated bins (including replacing trash bag liners)


• Wiping down surfaces and cleaning up spills


• Push trash bin


• Manage grounds maintenance, including the pool area, laundry, gym space, sauna, office, lobby, and restrooms and full bathroom with showers.


• Restock supplies as needed


• Operate a leaf blower machine


• Utilize a buffer-scrubber machine in high-traffic areas


• Perform additional duties as assigned by HBM management
