Job description

POSITION: Custodian 2nd Shift Grade 1

LOCATION:

Ledge Street Elementary School

(All Grade 1 Custodians hired on or after 11/01/2019 shall be hired with a "District Wide" custodial designation per Union Agreement.)

WORK YEAR:

Year Round: 2:30 PM to 10:30 PM (Monday through Friday)

STARTING:

ASAP

SALARY RANGE:

$20.77/hr (Grade 1) after 90 day probationary period.

(during probationary period, the wage rate will be $2.00 less per hour)

Qualifications

• High school education or equivalent.
• One year's experience in janitorial routines.
• Physical ability to perform duties including walking, bending, standing for long periods, climbing stairs and ladders, crawling in confined spaces, shoveling, working at heights of 15 to 20 feet, lifting and carrying objects weighing at least 100 lbs with assistance, and working with various cleaning, snow removal, lawn care equipment, and construction/maintenance products.

Summary Of Responsibilities

Assist the Head Custodian in maintaining the school building and grounds in a clean, orderly, and safe condition. Tasks include sweeping, mopping, washing windows, checking and changing light bulbs, assisting with moving furniture and equipment, performing minor repairs, maintaining janitorial equipment, aiding in emergency cleanups, reporting issues like vandalism, assisting with snow removal, helping in cafeteria operations, and other duties as assigned by the Head Custodian or Plant Operations Supervisor.
