Position Purpose

Responsible for custodial services for all PTS facilities. Provide a clean, comfortable, and safe environment for all district sites, associated buildings, and adjacent grounds while promoting the mission of Perry Township Schools.

Essential Job Functions

1. Responsible for routine custodial duties in all areas of the building.
2. Respond to spills, accidents, etc., that require immediate custodial attention.
3. Responsible for cleaning light fixtures and changing bulbs & lamps.
4. Anticipate supply needs and report them to the Head Custodian.
5. Maintain custodial closets in a clean and orderly condition.
6. Assist maintenance personnel as directed.
7. Perform related or special tasks assigned by the Head Custodian and School Administrator.
8. During school breaks or emergencies, be available for routine or emergency duties beyond regular assignments.
9. If working the daytime shift, responsible for snow removal from exterior entry areas and sidewalks, spreading sand, salt, or other chemicals to prevent slipping.
10. Perform manual labor tasks including loading, unloading, lifting, and moving materials.
11. Promote a harassment and discrimination-free environment.
12. Demonstrate a commitment to work and good judgment.
13. Work independently with minimum supervision.
14. Be available for additional hours or on-call duties as needed.
15. Other duties as assigned.

Equipment

1. Use hand tools and power equipment such as brooms, mops, floor cleaning and waxing machines, vacuum cleaners, snow blowers, and shovels.
2. Operate equipment safely.
3. Maintain custodial equipment in good condition and report repairs.

Travel Requirements

Travel to district buildings and meetings as required.

Pay Rates

$15.61 + .50 differential

Work Schedule

260 days per year.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand for extended periods (Very Frequent).
