Position Purpose

Responsible for custodial services for all PTS facilities. Provide a clean, comfortable, and safe environment for all district sites, associated buildings, and adjacent grounds while promoting the mission of Perry Township Schools.

Essential Job Functions

1. Responsible for routine custodial duties in all areas of the building
2. Respond to spills, accidents, etc., requiring immediate custodial attention
3. Responsible for cleaning light fixtures and changing bulbs & lamps
4. Anticipate supply needs and report them to the Head Custodian
5. Maintain custodial closets in a clean and orderly condition
6. Assist maintenance personnel when directed
7. Perform tasks assigned by the Head Custodian and School Administrator
8. During breaks or emergencies, be available for routine or emergency duties beyond regular assignment
9. If on daytime shift, responsible for snow removal from exterior entry areas and sidewalks, spreading sand, salt, or chemicals to prevent slipping
10. Perform manual labor tasks including loading, unloading, lifting, and moving materials
11. Promote an environment free of harassment and discrimination
12. Demonstrate a commitment to work and good judgment
13. Work independently with minimal supervision
14. Be available for additional hours or on-call as needed
15. Other duties as assigned

Equipment

1. Use hand tools and power equipment such as brooms, mops, floor machines, vacuums, snow blowers, shovels
2. Operate equipment safely to ensure a safe environment
3. Maintain custodial equipment in good condition and report repairs

Travel Requirements

Travel to district buildings and meetings as required.

Pay Rates

$15.61 + .50 differential

Work Schedule

260 days per year.
