Custodian- 260 days (Evenings)
Position Purpose
Responsible for custodial services for all PTS facilities. Provide a clean, comfortable and safe environment for all district sites, associated buildings and adjacent grounds while promoting the mission of Perry Township Schools.
Essential Job Functions
Responsible for routine custodial duties in all areas of the building
Respond to spills, accidents, etc. that require immediate custodial attention
Responsible for cleaning light fixtures and changing bulbs & lamps
Responsible for anticipating supply needs and reporting them to the Head Custodian
Responsible for maintaining custodial closets in a clean and orderly condition
Responsible for providing assistance to maintenance personnel when directed
Perform related or special tasks as assigned by the Head Custodian and School Administrator
During the summer months, school breaks or in the event of an emergency all custodial employees are subject to call for routine or emergency duties in the building other than their regular assignment
If working the daytime shift, responsible for snow removal from the exterior entry door areas and exterior sidewalks out to the curb Spread sand, salt or other chemicals to prevent slipping
Perform general manual labor tasks including loading, unloading, lifting and moving materials
Promote an environment free of harassment and discrimination
Demonstrate a commitment to work
Ability to work independently with minimum supervision
Demonstrate good judgment and common sense
Available to work additional hours and/or be on call as required to meet the needs of the position
Other duties may be assigned
Equipment
Use hand tools of trade and related power equipment, including brooms, mops, floor cleaning and
waxing machines, vacuum cleaners, snow blowers, and snow shovels
Operate equipment and machinery in a fashion to provide a safe environment
Responsible for maintaining assigned custodial equipment in clean, operationally ready condition
and reporting any repairs needed to the Head Custodian
Travel Requirements
Travel to school district buildings and professional meetings as required.
Pay Rates
$15.61+ .50 differential
Work Schedule
260 days per year.
