Job summary

Milton Hershey School is seeking a full-time 2nd shift Custodian to join the Building Services team. The role involves cleaning classrooms, gymnasiums, restrooms, offices, pool areas, and more, plus light maintenance and event setup.

This 2nd shift floater position runs Monday–Friday, 1:30 pm–10:00 pm, with an hourly rate of $28.06 plus shift differential and strong benefits. Applicants should have a High School diploma or equivalent and at least 6 months of institutional cleaning experience,

Qualifications

• Experience in institutional/commercial cleaning (6+ months).
• Able to lift/move items up to 50 pounds regularly.
• Valid PA driver's license in good standing.
• Knowledge of cleaning products, procedures, and equipment.
• Experience with cleaning equipment and snow removal equipment.
• Custodians are essential personnel and must be available for snow removal and other duties.
• Swimming pool cleaning experience is a plus.
• Blood borne pathogen training is a plus.
• Demonstrates integrity and serves as a positive role model.
• Willing to engage with students beyond job duties.

Responsibilities

• Maintain campus buildings, keep classrooms, offices, restrooms, gymnasiums, and pool areas clean and orderly.
• Empty trash and handle recycling; assist with minor maintenance and event setups.
• Unlock/lock buildings; assist with snow removal and related duties.
• Support daily operations and seasonal tasks as assigned.
• Assist with campus life activities and interact with students when appropriate.

MHS is seeking a full-time 2nd shift Custodian to join the Building Services team. The Building Services group pledges to provide a clean and healthy school environment for the students and staff. In addition to overall administrative facilities cleanliness, the department helps with event arrangements, daily operations and maintenance of all campus swimming pools, snow removal, and the summer scheduling of Student Residence building carpet cleaning. The MHS custodians are defined as emergency personnel to support the onsite life-sustaining residential model during weather emergencies.

MHS custodians are responsible for maintaining campus buildings as assigned in a neat, clean, and orderly condition, cleaning classrooms, shop areas, hallways, offices, gymnasiums, restrooms, locker rooms, and pool areas; emptying waste baskets and handling trash/recyclable. Also, they may be required to perform minor maintenance, assist in setups for meetings/events, unlock and lock buildings, assist with snow removal, etc.

Available shift: 2nd shift floater Monday - Friday 1:30 pm - 10:00 pm. This is a bargaining unit position with hourly pay rate of $28.06, plus shift differential and an excellent benefits package.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 6 months’ experience in institutional/commercial cleaning.
• Physically fit to lift/move items up to 50 pounds on regular basis.
• Valid PA driver's license in good standing.
• Working knowledge of cleaning products & procedures.
• Working knowledge of cleaning equipment, small tractors, gators or similar equipment and snow removal equipment, such as blowers.
• Custodians are considered essential personnel therefore required to be available for snow removal and other essential duties as assigned.
• Swimming pool cleaning experience a plus.
• Blood borne pathogen training a plus.
• Must demonstrate a high degree of integrity as all MHS Staff are role models for MHS Students.
• Candidates should be willing to actively engage with students beyond the scope of their job responsibilities.
