Job summary

The Salvation Army USA Western Territory is seeking a dedicated Custodian for the Hospitality House in Tucson. This full-time role (40 hours/week) involves cleaning offices, classrooms, common areas, and exterior spaces, with duties including dining room cleaning, restocking, and event support.

Qualified candidates will have a High School Diploma/GED and the ability to work independently. A background check is required, and applicants must be able to lift up to 75 pounds and work Monday–Friday,

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Clean and maintain offices, classrooms, conference rooms, and common areas.
  • Assist with shelter cleaning, dining area, and food service tables.
  • Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, sanitize, and disinfect surfaces.
  • Empty trash, restock supplies, and maintain exterior grounds.
  • Assist with event setup, client apartments turnover, and other cleaning tasks.
  • Report maintenance concerns to supervisor.

Job description

LOCATION: Hospitality House - 1002 N. Main Ave.

STATUS: FT / 40 Hours/Week

SHIFT: Monday - Friday - 8:00-5:00 pm

QUALIFICATIONS
  • High School Diploma/GED required
  • Minimum 1-year basic custodian experience helpful
  • Must have the ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Familiarity of Material Safety Data Sheets
  • Able to read/understand/follow labels & directions
  • Working knowledge of cleaning equipment
  • Able to interact professionally with individuals having a diverse background
  • Successful background clearance
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Clean and maintain offices, classrooms, conference rooms, common areas, breakrooms, restrooms, stairwells, elevators, and building entrances.
  • Assist with shelter cleaning as needed, dining room cleanup, ice machine, and food service tables
  • Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, sanitize, and disinfect floors, furniture, fixtures, glass, drinking fountains, and high-touch surfaces.
  • Empty trash and recycling; restock restroom and breakroom supplies as needed.
  • Maintain exterior grounds by removing litter and debris, emptying ash urns and pet waste stations.
  • Assist with event and program setup and breakdown, client apartment turnover cleaning, and other facility cleaning projects.
  • Power wash sidewalks, patios, and other exterior surfaces as assigned.
  • Report maintenance concerns, safety hazards, and supply needs to the supervisor.
  • Attend staff meetings and perform other custodial duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, stand, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and reach with hands and arms. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 35 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
