Job summary

The Town of Sharon is seeking a reliable Custodian to help maintain safe, welcoming public facilities year-round. This full-time role supports the Public Works team and is essential for daily operations of town buildings.

Responsibilities include cleaning, restocking supplies, opening/closing facilities, and assisting visitors. Occasional weekend events and winter operations may be required; CORI and drug testing are mandatory upon hire.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma.
  • Massachusetts Class D Driver’s License.
  • CORI check and mandatory drug testing upon hire.

  • Sweep and mop all floor surfaces; strip and wax floors as needed.
  • Vacuum rugs and carpeted areas throughout facilities.
  • Clean and sanitize restrooms; restock paper towels and toilet paper.
  • Dust surfaces, clean spills and maintain general cleanliness of public spaces.
  • Move furniture and clean up following events as required.
  • Assist residents and visitors with wayfinding in public buildings.
  • Responsible for opening and closing of assigned public facilities.
  • Report building deficiencies or maintenance issues to the Facilities Supervisor.
  • Perform any additional duties as assigned by the Facilities Supervisor.
  • Participate in special events rotation, typically on weekends.

Join a team that keeps the community running! The Town is seeking a motivated, reliable Custodian to help maintain safe and welcoming public facilities year-round.

The Town is seeking a dependable, community-minded individual to join our Public Works team as a full-time (40 hours/week) Custodian. In this role, you will be an essential part of maintaining safe, clean, and welcoming public facilities for residents and visitors every day.

Essential Functions:
Custodial & Facility Duties:

Perform all custodial functions, including cleaning of restrooms, floors, windows, and other public areas.

Sweep and mop all floor surfaces; strip and wax floors as needed.

Vacuum rugs and carpeted areas throughout facilities.

Clean and sanitize restrooms, including toilets and fixtures; restock paper towels and toilet paper.

Dust surfaces, clean spills and messes made by patrons, and maintain general cleanliness of public spaces.

Move furniture and clean up following events as required.

Assist residents and visitors with wayfinding in public buildings.

Responsible for opening and closing of assigned public facilities.

Report any building deficiencies or maintenance issues promptly to the Facilities Supervisor.

Perform similar or related functions as required or as the situation dictates.

Perform any additional duties as assigned by the Facilities Supervisor.

Special Events Rotation:

Participate in a special events rotation, which typically occurs on weekends, including the rental of specific public facility spaces.

Winter Operations:

Work alongside the Public Works hand crew during winter months as necessary, including snow and ice removal and related functions.

Schedule:

Monday – Friday 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Regular schedule is subject to change based on operational requirements. Weekend availability, with overtime, may be required for special events rotation.

Qualifications and Experience:

High school diploma; Massachusetts Class D Driver’s License. CORI check and mandatory drug testing upon hire.

Starting Salary Range:

$55,057 - $57,262 with excellent benefits, including health, dental, vision, life and disability insurance, flexible spending accounts and retirement plans.

Deadline:
