Job summary

Red Butte Garden & Arboretum in Salt Lake City is seeking a dedicated custodian to join our custodial team. The role focuses on performing a variety of cleaning tasks to ensure a safe, sanitary, and welcoming environment for staff and guests. This position supports standard cleanliness, sanitation, and safety throughout the facility.

Typical shifts run 6:00am to 2:30pm, with weekend availability required. Evening and weekend shifts may be needed for events.

Qualifications

• 1 year of higher education can be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience (Example: bachelor’s degree = 4 years of directly related work experience).
• Janitor, II: Requires at least 1 year of related experience.
• Janitor, III: Requires 3+ years of related experience.
• Previous custodial or janitorial experience in a commercial, educational, or public setting.
• Must be available at least one morning during the weekend.
• Respectful and professional demeanor when interacting with staff and guests.

Responsibilities

• Sweeps, cleans, mops, scrubs and dusts floors.
• Cleans toilets, basins, showers, bathtubs, and scrubs walls; dusts, cleans and vacuums furniture, fixtures doors and related furnishings by using appropriate cleaning supplies.
• Operates and maintains electric floor machines, industrial vacuums, carpet shampooing equipment and upholstery shampooing equipment.
• Cleans, refinishes and maintains a variety of floor coverings.
• Labels and removes infectious waste bags and containers.
• Transports custodial supplies and equipment to and from storage and work areas.
• Replaces sharp containers, transports trash and refuse, removes empty boxes and organizes closets.
• Other duties as assigned.

Red Butte Garden & Arboretum is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our custodial team! The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing a variety of cleaning tasks to ensure a safe, sanitary, and welcoming environment for both staff and guests. This role plays a vital part in upholding our standards of cleanliness, sanitation, and safety throughout the facility.
