Job summary

Dixie Technical College is seeking a part-time Custodian for evening shifts to perform custodial duties across classrooms, offices, restrooms, and common areas. You will work mostly independently on-site, report to the Custodial Supervisor, and interact with staff, students, and visitors.

Pay is $18 per hour, with a $1 per hour differential after 5 PM. Evening shifts run 8 PM to Midnight Monday–Thursday and 6 PM to 10 PM Friday, with occasional Saturdays.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
• Willingness to learn safety procedures and operate custodial equipment.

Responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize restrooms and common areas daily.
• Vacuum, mop, and spot-clean carpets and floors.
• Complete janitorial cleaning of break rooms, offices, conference rooms, entrances, glass, and drinking fountains.
• Remove trash and restock supplies daily.

POSITION SUMMARY

As a part-time Custodian, you will complete custodial duties across classrooms, offices, restrooms, and common areas. On the evening shift, you will work mostly independently in your assigned area, report to the Custodial Supervisor, and have occasional contact with staff, students, and visitors.

PAY AND HOURS

• Pay: $18 per hour, plus a $1 per hour differential for hours worked after 5 PM
• Evening shift: 8 PM to Midnight, Monday through Thursday; 6 PM to 10 PM Friday
• The schedule may include an occasional Saturday

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Cleaning and Sanitizing

• Clean and sanitize restrooms, including doors, stalls, toilets, sinks, mirrors, floors, and dispensers
• Vacuum and spot clean carpets and rugs, and mop hard floors
• Complete janitorial cleaning of break rooms, offices, conference rooms, entrances, glass, and drinking fountains
• Remove trash, restock toiletry supplies and hand soap daily

Safety and Professional Conduct

• Use and store chemicals safely, following labels and Safety Data Sheets
• Maintain confidentiality and follow Dixie Tech policies and procedures

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Skills

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions
• Ability to follow safety procedures and safely operate vacuums and other custodial equipment
• Welcomes feedback

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and climb stairs for a full four-hour evening shift
