Job Goal

To maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors. The primary goal is to ensure the overall cleanliness and hygiene of the school premises.

Qualifications (minimum Education, Licensure, Skills, And/or Experience)

• High school diploma or its equivalent preferred but not required.
• Satisfactory completion of two-hour asbestos awareness training course within sixty days of employment.
• Satisfactory completion of Red Cross First Aid Course including CPR within 60 days of employment.
• Must be able to read and understand job and product directions.
• Must be dependable, honest, and reliable.
• Must pass a general physical examination.
• Must pass a criminal background check and drug test.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Keep buildings and premises, including sidewalks, driveways, and play areas neat and clean at all times.
• Regulate heat, ventilation, and air conditioning systems to provide appropriate temperatures and ensure economical usage of fuel, water, and electricity.
• Check daily to ensure all exit doors are open during building occupancy hours.
• Sweep classrooms daily and dust furniture.
• Clean corridors as required.
• Clean and disinfect restrooms daily, including sanitary fixtures and drinking fountains.
• Wash all windows on both inside and outside as needed.
• Maintain grounds free from rubbish.
• Perform yard chores like grass cutting and shrub trimming to keep the school grounds safe and attractive.
• Keep all floors in good condition and clean.
• Clean all chalkboards as needed.
• Make minor repairs and report needed repairs to the head custodian, principal, or assistant principal.
• Maintain mechanical equipment on a scheduled basis.
• Report damage to school property immediately.
• Remain on school premises during school hours and authorized non-school hours.
• Conduct ongoing maintenance, upkeep, and repair.
• Move furniture or equipment as required.
• Follow laws and procedures for trash and hazardous material disposal.
• Monitor electrical and fire safety equipment regularly.
• Change air conditioner filters periodically.
• Assist maintenance personnel and cafeteria staff as needed.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Physical Demands

• Must be in good health with physical stamina.
• Ability to operate equipment like buffers, lawn mowers, and hand tools.
• Capable of tasks including mopping, stooping, bending, heavy lifting (50 pounds+), and other physical activities.

Environmental Conditions

Work involves both indoor and outdoor tasks, exposure to temperature variations, biological and chemical hazards, wet or slippery surfaces, and inclines.

Terms of Employment

12 months, salary according to current schedule.

Evaluation

Performance will be evaluated per the Board's policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel (Bulletin 130).
