Job summary

Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation is seeking a 52‑week Custodian to maintain a clean, safe school environment. Work five days per week, 8 hours per day, with an evening schedule from 2:45 pm to 11:15 pm during the school year and summer hours as listed. POSITION DETAILS

This position is for a 52 week Custodian. 5 days per week at 8 hours per day. The scheduled work times are 2:45 pm - 11:15 pm during the school year and 6:00 am - 2:30 pm during the summer months.


SALARY

BENEFITS

Insurance: EVSC offers four (4) Anthem medical insurance plans. Full medical, dental and vision insurance are provided with this position. Employees may pay the additional cost to add family members. Click here to view the rates for each plan. If elected, insurance coverage begins the first of the month following the successful completion of a 30 working day probationary period.


Employees enrolled in an EVSC medical insurance plan are eligible to use any of the three EVSCHealth & Wellness Centers. The health clinics provide primary care services, generic prescription medications, physicals, health screenings, and labs; all at NO COST to the employee or covered family member.

EVSC employees have access to the EVSC Wee Care Learning Centers. The Wee Care program provides a quality early learning experience for employees' children as young as six weeks through age five at a special employee rate.


This position will automatically be enrolled in the Public Employees' Retirement Fund (PERF) through the state of Indiana, which includes a defined benefit (Pension) as well as an Annuity Savings Account (ASA). Employees may also participate in a 403(b) Plan. Enrolling in the 403(b) plan allows employees to save for their retirement by making a pre‑tax salary deferral contributions to the Plan.


Eligible employees may enroll in the EVSC group life insurance and long term disability plans. EVSC also offers a variety of voluntary insurance products through American Fidelity.


EVSC offers a free Employee Assistance Program (EAP). It is a confidential, voluntary service that provides professional counseling and referral services designed to help employees and their family members with personal, job or family‑related matters.


SUMMARY

Create and maintain a clean, sanitary environment and perform preventative maintenance in and around the school campus.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Other duties may be assigned.



  • Clean and preserve designated spaces, equipment, etc. in the building and school grounds.

  • Assist in maintaining seasonal grounds work such as weather related issues and lawn.

  • Restock disposable items and provide head custodian with inventory usage and data.

  • Assist community partners with set up for various events on the school campus.

  • Communicate any maintenance issues to the Head Custodian.

  • Maintain exterior doors' security for school campus.

  • Utilize aerial lifts and scaffolds as needed for various projects.

  • Perform head custodian duties in their absence as needed.

  • Frequently monitor email communication and respond accordingly in a timely manner.

  • Complete monthly safety training program.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
