Salary Schedule

Under general supervision, the position involves performing custodial tasks for an assigned school in the district. Employees are responsible for completing routine custodial duties to ensure a safe, attractive, clean, and functional environment for staff, students, and visitors.

Essential Functions

1. Respond to internal and external customers courteously and efficiently, representing OCPS positively.
2. Operate electrical cleaning equipment such as vacuum cleaners, shampoo machines, and buffers during scheduled hours.
3. Use chemicals and cleaners safely, following instructions and regulations to ensure safety.
4. Open and secure assigned areas daily, including locking doors and windows and turning off electrical units.
5. Perform custodial tasks like waste removal, window washing, dusting, and vent cleaning.
6. Sanitize restrooms, kitchens, and cafeterias.
7. Handle physically demanding tasks with heavy custodial equipment, including mopping, waxing, and buffing floors.
8. Respond to emergencies like spills or broken windows to prevent hazards.
9. Move furniture and equipment as needed.
10. Maintain cleanliness of tools and report equipment issues.
11. Perform routine maintenance on custodial equipment.
12. Assist with general facility maintenance, such as changing light bulbs and setting up for events.
13. Work independently or as part of a team, depending on the task.
14. Stay updated on current technology used by OCPS and attend training as required.
15. Maintain accurate and timely information related to job responsibilities.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED preferred; experience with custodial equipment and physical requirements is advantageous. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience is acceptable.

• Physical ability to exert heavy effort, including lifting up to 100 pounds, and perform tasks in adverse environmental conditions.
