Job summary

Poppy Bank is seeking a janitor for the Head Start Program. Under direct supervision, you will perform custodial, janitorial, and groundskeeping duties across facilities to maintain a clean, safe environment.

The position is full-time, non-exempt, with the pay scale listed as base hourly wages. A High School Diploma or GED is required, and you must pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.

Responsibilities

• Sweep, mop, scrub, and wax floors

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Sweeps, mops, scrubs, and waxes
• Dusts and polishes furniture; cleans offices.
• Washes windows, walls, and
• Cleans, sanitizes, and deodorizes restrooms; replaces soap and paper
• Unclogs
• Empties and cleans waste receptacles and
• Disposes of trash
• Vacuums and shampoos
• Strips, waxes, and buffs
• Cleans vents and light
• Assists in moving office
• Maintains equipment and custodial supplies and replenishes as
• Cuts weeds, rakes leaves, and removes litter from
• Maintains entrances, steps, walkways, and parking lots.
• Cleans snow and ice from parking lots, walkways, entrances, and steps.
• Trims and prunes trees and bushes at ten feet and
• Irrigates lawns using sprinklers, hoses, and flooding

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hand to finger handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk to hear. The employee occasionally is required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Able to work in fast-paced, multi-task environment. The employee must occasionally lift and or move up to fifty (50) pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIROMENT:

Work is performed both indoors and outdoors. Exposure to fumes or airborne particles may occur, and the incumbent is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions. Evening, weekend, and or holiday work is rarely required. Travel, though rare, may be required for training, meetings, conferences, presentations and other events.
