Job summary

Community Action Agency of Oklahoma City & OK/CN Counties, Inc. is seeking a Custodian responsible for maintaining a clean, healthy, and safe environment across CAA facilities. Duties include cleaning, floor care, grounds maintenance, event setup, basic repairs, and supporting agency events with a teamwork-driven approach.

The role requires physical stamina, ability to lift 85 pounds, and willingness to travel to off-site locations as needed to fulfill the mission with integrity.

Qualifications

  • Six months to one year custodial experience.
  • Able to read and follow instructions and safety guidelines.
  • Knowledge of buffers, vacuums, and cleaning equipment.
  • Reliable, honest, and able to pass background checks.
  • Willingness to travel to off-site locations as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily sweeping, dusting, mopping, and cleaning of walls and fixtures.
  • Strip, wax, buff floors; clean drinking fountains and lavatory fixtures.
  • Maintain lawns, trees, shrubs, and flower beds to improve curb appeal.
  • Set up, rearrange, and take down furniture and equipment for events.
  • Provide basic maintenance and small repairs as needed (lights, filters, etc.).
  • Support agency missions and participate in travel to off-site locations when required.

JOB SUMMARY:

To maintain a clean, healthy, and safe environment in CAA facilities. The care, cleanliness, and upkeep of each worksite are the responsibility of the Custodian, who serves as apartnerin our mission throughexceptionalservice andintegrity.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Facility Upkeep:
  • Perform daily sweeping, dusting, dust mopping, and wet mopping. Clean walls, windows, fixtures, and furniture to ensure weexceed expectationsfor a healthy environment.
Floor & Fixture Care:
  • Strip, wax, and buff floors; clean drinking fountains and lavatory fixtures. Empty all trash at least twice daily, acting as aresponsiblesteward of the facility.
Grounds Maintenance:
  • Maintain lawns, trees, shrubs, and flower beds to create a welcoming curb appeal for our clients andallies.
Team Support:
  • Set up, rearrange, and take down furniture and equipment. Act as aproblem solverby listening to staff needs and providingsupportfor Agency events.
Equipment & Preventative Care:
  • Provideaccountablemaintenance for tools (buffers, mowers, etc.) and perform minor building repairs (lights, filters, paint touch-ups).
Innovation & Mission:
  • Remainadaptableandresponsiveto changing needs. Perform other duties as required to accomplish the Agency and Head Start missions, showing a willingness toexecutetasks that support the greater good.
Other:
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Requires frequent travel to off-site locations.
WORKING CONDITIONS:

Work in a moderate-paced environment, primarily focusing on building upkeep and yard maintenance. Demonstrate the physicalintegrityto lift 85 pounds, carry it 100 feet, and move heavy loads. Must have the strength to stand/walk throughout the workday, climb ladders, stoop, kneel, and reach. Moderate exposure to weather and cleaning chemicals. Custodians are expected to beleadersin safety, ensuring a "No Judgement" zone by maintaining a clean and professional space for all.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
  • Communication:Ability to read, write, and follow instructions. We value those wholisten,communicateclearly, and arecuriousenough to ask, 'Questions Welcome.'
  • Experience:Six (6) months to one (1) year of custodial experience; knowledgeable in the use of buffers and vacuums.
  • Teamwork & Culture:Proven ability to work withdiverse cultures. Mustrespect always, acting as abuilderof community within the workplace.
  • Reliability:Must behonest,fair, andconsistent. Must pass O.S.B.I. background check/fingerprinting and meet all work environment standards.
  • Health:Have no physical restrictions that would preclude the performance of assigned duties.
