Responsibilities

POSITION: CUSTODIAN LOCATION: North Canaan , CT North Canaan Elementary School seeks a reliable and dedicated Custodian to help maintain clean, safe, and welcoming learning environments for students, staff, and visitors. The ideal candidate takes pride in their work, demonstrates strong attention to detail, and works well as part of a collaborative school team.

Position Information

Working Conditions

North Canaan Elementary School serves students in grades PK–8. All employees work as a team in a respectful, caring, and supportive environment. The school maintains a positive and welcoming atmosphere, and the successful candidate must be friendly, flexible, and helpful to coworkers, students, families, and community members who enter the building.

• Clean and maintain classrooms, offices, restrooms, hallways, and common areas in accordance with established cleaning, sanitation, safety, and school procedures.
• Set up and dismantle tables, chairs, and equipment for school events and activities.
• Perform minor maintenance and repairs as needed.

Physical Requirements

The physical demands described here are representative of those required to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. The employee is frequently required to stand and walk for extended periods and may be required to bend, kneel, reach, and climb ladders. The position requires the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull objects weighing up to approximately 50 pounds. The employee may work indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions and may be exposed to cleaning chemicals and equipment.

Compensation and Benefits

Wage: $23.19 per hour.

This position is eligible for a benefits package that includes:
