A leading county organization is seeking a dedicated Custodian to maintain cleanliness at the Montgomery County Courthouse and other locations. Responsibilities include routine cleaning, operating equipment, and ensuring safety protocols are followed. The ideal candidate will have prior custodial experience and a high school diploma or GED. Training in chemical handling is provided, and effective communication with staff and visitors is essential.
The individual is responsible for various custodial/housekeeping duties at the Montgomery County Courthouse and other designated locations.
Responsibilities include performing routine cleaning procedures such as sweeping, mopping floors, dusting and polishing furniture and equipment, cleaning glass at entrance doors, emptying wastebaskets, removing trash, and restocking restroom supplies to meet staff and visitor needs. The role also involves operating floor machines, burnishers, and carpet cleaning equipment.
Each area is cleaned according to a schedule to minimize inconvenience to employees and the public. The custodian must be observant of custodial needs beyond written instructions and respond effectively to unexpected work volume changes, emergencies, or staff revisions.
Adherence to safety protocols is mandatory, including proper handling and disposal of cleaning agents, use of personal protective equipment, and familiarity with safety guidelines when operating power equipment.
Effective communication with staff and visitors is essential, and the custodian should work harmoniously with others.
Training in chemical handling and hazardous materials is provided.
Attendance and punctuality are required.
Custodians may be assigned to cleaning duties at other County locations during their shifts.
