Job summary

Koniag Professional Services (KPS), a Koniag Government Services company, is hiring custodians as a union position, with benefits provided by the CBA. Custodians report to Lead Custodian and work across offices, restrooms, common areas, and exterior grounds, performing general and specialized cleaning, restroom maintenance, disinfection, and light maintenance of equipment.

The role also requires flexibility to cover multiple facilities and shifts.

Qualifications

• Prefer high school diploma.
• Capable of performing heavy cleaning duties, such as cleaning floors, shampooing rugs, and washing walls.
• Demonstrate clear written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• General cleaning of entrances, lobbies, offices, conference rooms, and work areas.
• Specialized cleaning including carpet and floor care.
• Restroom cleaning and supplies restocking.
• Disinfection of high-touch surfaces (doors, switches, handrails).
• Inspect and maintain cleaning equipment and report issues.
• Exterior duties: remove debris and litter from grounds and walkways.
• Support tasks: assist with setup/cleanup for events.
• Follow federal facility cleaning protocols and regulations.

The Custodian:

• Reports to Lead Custodian.
• Responsible for maintaining a safe and healthy environment.
• Covers various areas, including offices, restrooms, common areas, and exterior grounds.

The Custodian will:

General Cleaning: Clean entrances, lobbies, corridors, offices, conference rooms, and work areas. Empty wastebaskets and trash receptacles. Dust high and low surfaces, clean/polish soiled surfaces. Vacuum carpets, perform light spot removal, and wash windows and glass surfaces.

Specialized Cleaning: Monitor and maintain carpet and floor appearances. Perform carpet spot and deep cleaning. Manual scrub, buff, strip, and refinish floors.

Restroom Maintenance: Clean and sanitize restrooms (toilets, sinks, mirrors). Restock supplies (toilet paper, soap, paper towels).

Disinfection: Sanitize high-touch surfaces (door handles, light switches, handrails). Clean and disinfect common areas.

Equipment Care: Inspect equipment for cleanliness. Perform minor repairs and maintenance.

Exterior Duties: Remove debris and litter from grounds and walkways.

Support Tasks: Report maintenance issues or safety hazards. Assist with setup/cleanup for special events.

Compliance: Follow federal facility cleaning protocols and regulations.

Requirements:

• Experience in custodial care projects and able to lift 50 lbs.
• Demonstrate clear written and verbal communication skills.
