Job summary

Cranbrook Educational Community in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, is seeking Custodian staff for full-time positions. Duties include cleaning floors, washing windows, dusting furniture, basic maintenance, and snow removal. Strong attention to safety and reliability is important for campus-wide facilities care.

Shifts run Monday to Friday: 6:00am–2:30pm or 4:00pm–12:30am. Base rate is $18.75/hour with a $1.00 premium on eligible afternoon and weekend shifts.

Qualifications

• Valid Michigan driver's license required.
• Experience with cleaning equipment is desirable.
• Experience with cleaning chemicals is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain floors (sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, stripping, waxing, and carpet shampooing).
• Wash windows and walls; dust and polish furniture and fixtures.
• Perform maintenance tasks (change bulbs, empty trash, hang decorations, restock supplies).
• Pick up debris on grounds; remove snow and ice from entrances in winter.

The Custodian is responsible for performing work associated with the maintenance and cleaning of buildings, furniture, grounds, sidewalks, vehicles and the equipment and tools needed for these tasks.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Clean and maintain floors, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, stripping, and waxing and shampooing carpets.
• Wash windows and walls.
• Dust and polish furniture and fixtures.
• Perform miscellaneous maintenance duties, e.g., change light bulbs, empty trash, hang decorations, and supply paper towel and tissue dispensers.
• Pick up debris and litter on grounds.
• Remove snow and ice from stairs and entranceways to buildings during winter months.

Requirements:

• Valid Michigan driver’s license with satisfactory driving record.
• Experience in the use and maintenance of building and cleaning equipment and tools desirable.
• Experience in the use of cleaning chemicals and solvents desirable.

Full-Time positions available -Shifts are:

Monday – Friday, 6:00am – 2:30pm

Monday – Friday, 4:00pm – 12:30am

Rate of pay is $18.75/hour. Afternoon shift and weekend shift is eligible for a $1.00 per hour shift premium.
