Custodian

Essential Job Functions

• Sweeps, mops, and scrub floors, stairs (inside/outside buildings) and other surfaces.
• Cleans and services lavatories and restrooms.
• Cleans and dusts furniture, exhibit cases, pictures, door trims and chalkboards.
• Vacuum rugs/carpet in offices and public areas; shampoo rugs/carpets periodically using appropriate equipment.
• Washes windowsills, glass in corridor doors, and trim in entrance doors.
• Washes and/or cleans interior wall spaces.
• Reports items in need of repair (doors, faucets, windows, etc.).
• Collects and places trash and debris in designated collection areas.
• Other related duties, as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One (1) year of custodial care.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Knowledge of commercial cleaning processes.
• Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures and strategies to promote effective cleaning and building maintenance.
• Knowledge of the use of chemicals, structure and properties of substances used in the daily operations of custodial duties.
