Job summary

Marshall University in Huntington, WV seeks friendly, team-oriented custodians to join our housekeeping team on a full-time basis. Evening/Night shifts available; pay rate is $11.56 per hour, with background check and drug screen required.

You will clean classrooms, common areas, restrooms and cafeterias, follow established procedures, and contribute to a safe, clean campus. Must be 18+, speak English, and work well in a team; custodial experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must practice good personal hygiene and be neatly groomed in a uniform.
• Communicate effectively in English and work well in a team environment.
• Preferred: Custodial experience (cleaning, housekeeping, environmental services, custodian, janitorial, room attendant, floor care technician)

• Clean assigned areas of the university campus, including classrooms, common areas, restrooms, cafeterias, and more.
• Follow all HHS cleaning procedures and best practices.
• Provide friendly and kind service to all individuals on campus.
• Perform cleaning, buffing, and bonneting procedures to maintain floors.
• Perform floor stripping and extraction projects as assigned.
• Assist team members and management as needed to help the department operate efficiently

Physical Requirements

• Standing, walking, squatting, bending, twisting, kneeling, and reaching continuously throughout a shift
• Pushing and pulling carts or equipment (over 100 lb.) on tile and carpeted floors continuously throughout a shift
• Must handle chemicals including bleach, wax, and disinfectants
• Must be able to operate equipment necessary to perform essential functions of the job
