Job summary

Glanton Elementary School in Grantville, GA is hiring Custodian / 8 Hours Daily at $14.28 per hour. Two positions are available.

The role provides a safe, clean, and well-maintained school environment by sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, waxing floors, cleaning restrooms, and typical custodial duties; applicants must have a minimum high school diploma or GED and maintain excellent attendance.

Qualifications

• Minimum high school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Ability to establish and maintain efficient working relations with staff.
• Ability to perform physical custodial duties (lifting, reaching, stooping, kneeling, climbing a ladder).
• Working knowledge of housekeeping and sanitation practices.

Responsibilities

• Provide a safe, attractive, clean, and efficient environment for students and staff.
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, scrub, dewax, and wax floors; clean blinds, glass, fixtures, walls, and restrooms.
• Clean corridors, classrooms, and waste containers; empty trash daily.
• Move furniture and equipment as directed; report damage to the principal.
• Maintain attendance and punctuality; comply with directives from leadership.

Job Description

To provide students and staff with a safe, attractive, comfortable, clean, and efficient environment in which to work and learn. Keeps building and premises, including sidewalks, driveways, and play areas, neat, clean, and safe at all times. Performs essential building care such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, scrubbing, dewaxing, and waxing floors; cleaning blinds, window glass, light fixtures, walls, carpet, restrooms, and other spaces within a school facility. Sweeps classrooms and empties waste containers daily. Cleans corridors after school each day and during the day when their condition requires it. Scrubs and disinfects restrooms' floors daily. Cleans all sanitary fixtures daily. Checks equipment and facility daily and reports any damage immediately to the principal. Works on the school premises during scheduled hours and remains on the school premises during periods when the principal has authorized use of the building for special purposes. Moves furniture and equipment within buildings as required for various activities, as directed by the lead custodian or principal. Complies with local laws, ordinances, and regulations for the storage and disposal of trash, rubbish, and waste. Complies with any reasonable oral or written directive given by the lead custodian, principal, or other administrator. Excellent attendance and punctuality are required. Other duties as assigned by Lead and/or administrators.

Required Education, Certification, Or Training
