Job summary

Fulton County Schools is seeking a Building Custodian I to perform custodial maintenance and cleaning within the school building. This role involves semi-skilled cleaning and basic maintenance of school facilities and equipment.

The position requires ability to operate cleaning machinery, follow directions, and respond to staff requests promptly. Experience preferred, with emphasis on safety and reliable duty performance at Northview High.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of cleaning methods, supplies, and appropriate use of supplies and equipment.
• Ability to operate various equipment used for cleaning floors and carpets.
• Must be able to understand and follow directions both written and verbal.

Responsibilities

• Maintain building and grounds in an acceptable condition.
• Clean lights, windows, walls, furniture, bleachers, blinds and stadiums.
• Operate scrubbing, buffing and waxing equipment on floors.
• Disinfect and restock restrooms.
• Prepare for and clean up after events.
• Move furniture and equipment as directed by head custodian or principal.
• Maintain appearance of grounds including shrubs and parking areas.
• Respond to staff requests in a timely manner.
• Perform minor repairs as may be required.
• Perform other duties as assigned by administrator.

Experience Qualifications

Minimum of 1 year of custodial experience preferred

• Must be able to understand and follow directions both written and verbal

Working Conditions

• Regular exposure to weather including heat, cold, dampness, and/or humidity

Physical Demands

• Typically requires climbing ladders; pushing and/or pulling
• Must have sufficient strength and manual dexterity to operate equipment used to clean floors and carpets
• Must be able to lift, push, and/or pull in excess of 50 pounds
• Must be able to stand, crouch, and climb to use ladders and perform various types of manual labor
