Job summary

Mott Community College in Flint, MI is seeking a custodial worker to maintain clean, safe and well-kept facilities across campus. The role emphasizes reliability, teamwork, and adherence to safety standards while supporting MCC's commitment to a healthy learning environment.

Responsibilities include cleaning routines, operating custodial equipment, handling chemicals safely, and communicating effectively with departments to meet daily objectives on second shift (2:30pm–11pm).

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Ability to read, write, and follow oral/written directions.
  • Manual dexterity to mop, scrub, operate equipment and climb.
  • Must possess desire to perform manual labor.
  • Must be able to work first, second and/or third shift.
  • Knowledge of methods, materials, and equipment used in custodial work.
  • Ability to learn to use a variety of custodial equipment, supplies and materials.
  • Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and their interaction.
  • Ability to work effectively with a team.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
  • Work independently in the absence of supervision.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions
Unique Aspects of Job (Optional):
  • Ability to walk, kneel, climb, stand, stoop, crouch, reach, pull and do related physical activities necessary in performing custodial work.
Physical Requirements:
  • Works on ladders up to 12 feet; often lifts 60 pounds to a height of three (3) feet repetitively;
  • Must be able to work in conditions that include dust, mold and a wide variety of chemicals.
Work Schedule

Second shift, 2:30pm-11pm – Monday through Friday.
