Job summary

The DM Burr Group is hiring a Part Time Custodian for the 2nd shift at the Secretary of State facility in Flint, MI. Schedule is Mon/Tue/Thurs/Fri 6:30pm–9:00pm and Wed 8:30pm–11:00pm, with a starting wage of $17.00 per hour.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma, GED or technical school certification.
• 0-6 months custodial/janitorial experience using floor scrubbers, buffers, stripping machines.
• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
• Read and follow label instructions on cleaning supplies.
• Follow basic verbal & written instructions.
• Pay close attention to detail.
• Must have team aptitude and approach.

Responsibilities

• Use approved methods and materials in cleaning and caring for assigned facility.
• Operate and maintain equipment such as auto floor scrubbers, burnishing buffers, stripping machines and vacuums.
• Sweep, vacuum, mop, scrub and polish floors using industrial vacuums and scrubbing/buffing machines.
• Empty trash receptacles.
• May remove stains from rugs, drapes, walls and floors.
• General cleaning of furniture, windowsills, walls.
• Dust, wash walls, clean ceilings, and polish light fixtures.
• Move cabinets, boxes, furniture and equipment to clean areas.
• Clean/stock restrooms, janitorial closets and break rooms.
• Record and document cleaning functions on logs and report to Supervisor.
• Perform light building maintenance duties as needed.
• Report major safety items for repair.
• Other duties as assigned.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Use approved methods and materials in cleaning and caring for assigned facility.

• General cleaning furniture, window sills, and walls.
• Dust, wash walls, clean ceilings, and polish light fixtures.

• Clean/stock all restroom, janitorial closet and break rooms.
• Record and document all cleaning functions on appropriate logs and report to Supervisor.
• Perform light building maintenance duties as needed.
• Report any major safety item for repair.
• Other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

• Must be self-motivated and have the ability to work with minimal supervision.
• 0-6 months custodial/ janitorial experience using floor scrubbers, buffers, stripping machines.
• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
• Requires the ability to read and follow label instructions on cleaning supplies
• Ability to follow basic verbal & written instructions.
• Ability to pay close attention to detail.
• Must have team aptitude and approach.
