Genesee Intermediate School District in Flint is seeking a Custodian to maintain clean and safe facilities for students, teachers and staff, following district standards and schedules.
Responsibilities include operating floor machines, moving furniture, ensuring security, reporting needs, and supporting special projects as assigned.
Qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent, Michigan driver's license, reliable transportation, and ability to work as part of a team.
The Custodian is responsible for cleaning and maintaining assigned areas. Works closely with Lead/Head custodian to provide an environment for students, teachers and other employees that is a credit to the custodial/maintenance profession. May be assigned to special custodial/maintenance projects related to the needs of the district.
Education: High School diploma or equivalent. Valid Michigan driver’s license and current certificate of automobile insurance. Must have reliable transportation and be willing and able to drive personal vehicle between assigned worksites/locations.
Experience: Custodial and building care experience preferred, however not required. Genesee Intermediate School District provides a hands-on comprehensive custodian training program.
Skills/Other: Must be physically able to bend, stoop, lift, squat, carry, stand, climb, push/pull and use other motor skills necessary to perform the essential duties as needed in the assigned area of responsibility. Ability to accept direction and follow oral and written instructions. Ability to learn and demonstrate proper use of equipment, i.e. floor scrubbers/polishers, carpet cleaning equipment, tractors, lawn mowers, snow removal equipment and leaf blowers. Ability to use a computer, and work to maintain proficiency, as required skill sets change with technology and/or the needs of the district. Demonstrated ability to work as a team member in a variety of custodial/maintenance-related assignments in order to meet the changing needs of the district required. Problem-solving skills and ability to exercise good judgment.
