FLSA CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt
QUALIFICATIONS
- Possesses high school diploma or equivalent training/experience
- Ability to use a computer to initiate and complete work orders (day shift only)
- Prior demonstrated knowledge of successful cleaning techniques
- Ability to communicate effectively in English
- Ability to supply accurate information to maintain an inventory recording system
- Ability to read and understand instructions
- Satisfactory health status
- Required criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status
REPORTS TO: Educational Facilities Manager and Lead Custodian
JOB GOAL
To provide students with a safe, attractive, comfortable and clean place in which to learn, play and develop.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assumes responsibility for the effective performance of assigned cleaning functions per individual responsibilities list.
- Assumes responsibilities for receiving supplies and delivery to the proper location:
- Matches goods to receiving documents
- Signs receiving report and forwards to business office.
- Assumes responsibility for related duties as assigned:
- Regulates heat, ventilation and air‑conditioning systems to provide temperatures appropriate to the season and to insure economical use of fuel, water and electricity.
- Shovels, plows and/or sands walks, driveways, parking areas and steps as appropriate.
- Raises the United States Flag before 8:00 am on each school day, if not lighted.
- Moves furniture or equipment within buildings as required.
- Sets up for various school events.
- Keeps the grounds free from trash.
- Assumes responsibility for routine maintenance on building systems:
- Changes light bulbs.
- Changes filters.
- Makes such minor building repairs as he/she is capable when directed.
- Initiates work orders for all major repairs beyond his/her capabilities.
- Performs other preventative maintenance tasks as directed by work order.
- Assumes responsibility for assisting with breakfast program:
- Delivers breakfast carts to classrooms.
- Retrieves breakfast cart and returns to the kitchen.
- Empties classroom trash cans.
- Performs other related duties as needed and requested by administration.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Position holder must be able to bend forward at the waist and is required to have full use of lower extremities. Must have the ability to rest on knees, to stand for long periods of time and be able to walk long distances. Position holder must be able to use upper body to draw, drag, haul or tug objects and to use fingers and palms to grasp objects. Must be able to hear normal conversations and have average visual ability needed to operate machinery. Must possess the ability to climb and work on roofs from ladders, lifts and scaffolding, and in confined areas such as crawl spaces. Position holder must have the ability to lift 50 pounds occasionally and 25 pounds frequently.
