Job summary

Child Development Centers Inc. is hiring a dedicated Custodian in Erie, PA. The role involves maintaining a sanitary, orderly center environment for children and staff, with responsibilities spanning daily cleaning, floor care, waste removal, and routine safety checks.

The successful candidate will manage cleaning schedules, restock supplies, perform deep interior cleans, and assist with inventory while reporting to the Center Director. Travel to other centers within the county may be required.

Responsibilities

• Keeps center areas clean and ready for children and staff the next day.
• Maintains floor and carpet care schedule (vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, shampooing).
• Upholds facility hygiene by daily waste removal and clean waste areas.
• Restocks restroom supplies to maintain hygiene.
• Performs deep cleaning of interior surfaces as needed.
• Maintains custodial supplies inventory and reorders as needed.
• Completes additional tasks as assigned by the Center Director.
• Identifies safety concerns and reports them to the Center Director.

The custodian performs a variety of housekeeping duties to maintain the center in a sanitary, orderly and attractive condition.

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Ensures that all center areas, including classrooms, restrooms, hallways and other common areas within the facility, are thoroughly clean and ready for children and staff the following day.
• Maintains a consistent schedule associated with floor and carpet care, including vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, shampooing, spot scrubbing, etc.
• Upholds facility hygiene by performing daily waste removal and ensuring that waste collection areas are clean and safe to use.
• Performs routine checks and restocks restroom paper and soap supplies to ensure availability and support hygiene.
• Conducts scheduled deep cleaning of interior surfaces (including walls, windows, furniture, baseboards, and other items) to uphold a sanitary and safe setting for children.
• Maintains an inventory of custodial supplies and equipment that allows timely ordering to ensure the quality of their work.
• Promptly completes other tasks as assigned by the Center Director.
• Proactively looks for safety concerns within the facility and reports them to the Center Director.
• Utilizes supplies in an efficient and effective manner to prevent waste.

Physical Requirements:
