LOCATED AT WV LOTTERY HEADQUARTERS, UNDER GENERAL SUPERVISION, PERFORM CUSTODIAL/HOUSE CLEANING DUTIES WITHIN THE WV LOTTERY HEADQUARTERS BUILDING, WAREHOUSE, AND PARKING GARAGE.
SPECIFIC DUTIES INCLUDE
Cleaning and Sanitizing
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, and scrub floors
- Dust and wipe furniture, desks, fixtures, windowsills, and other surfaces
- Clean and disinfect restrooms, sinks, toilets, urinals, and showers
- Clean kitchens, break rooms, cafeterias, and common areas
- Empty trash and recycling containers and replace liners
- Clean spills and remove stains promptly
Building Maintenance
- Perform basic repairs and minor maintenance, such as replacing light bulbs, tightening fixtures, unclogging drains, and making simple adjustments
- Report plumbing, electrical, heating/cooling, structural, or other maintenance problems to the appropriate supervisor
- Check doors, windows, locks, lights, and other facility equipment for problems
- Help prepare rooms and facilities for meetings, events, or daily operations
Safety and Sanitation
- Follow proper procedures for handling and storing cleaning chemicals
- Use personal protective equipment when required
- Place warning signs around wet floors and other hazards
- Maintain clear and safe walkways, entrances, stairways, and emergency exits
- Follow workplace health, safety, and sanitation regulations
Supplies and Equipment
- Operate cleaning equipment such as vacuum cleaners, floor buffers, carpet cleaners and pressure washers
- Keep cleaning tools and equipment clean and properly stored
- Monitor inventory of cleaning and maintenance supplies
- Request or report on the need for replacement supplies and equipment
Security and Facility Monitoring
- Lock and unlock doors according to established procedures
- Check the building for unusual conditions, damage, leaks, or safety hazards
- Report suspicious activity, security concerns, or emergencies
- Follow procedures for opening or closing the facility
Customer Service and Teamwork
- Work with maintenance staff, supervisors, contractors, and other employees
- Assist with moving furniture, equipment, or supplies when needed
- Maintain a professional and respectful work environment
Recordkeeping
- Complete cleaning or maintenance checklists
- Report completed work, equipment problems, supply shortages, and safety issues
Applicants are subject to an extensive background investigation by the WV Lottery Security Division. No person shall be appointed, employed, or continue to serve in any position or employment with the commission who has been convicted of any violation of the lottery law or of any felony or any crime related to theft or gambling. The commission shall remove or discharge any person so convicted.
