Role Description

The Custodian at FRANKLIN COUNTY LIBRARY SYSTEM is responsible for maintaining clean, orderly, and safe library facilities, including public areas, offices, restrooms, and meeting rooms. Day-to-day tasks include sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, trash removal, restroom sanitation, and basic upkeep of indoor and outdoor entryways. The Custodian may assist with setting up and breaking down furniture and equipment for programs and events, restocking supplies, and reporting maintenance needs or safety concerns. This is a full-time, on-site role located in Franklin County, PA, requiring reliability, attention to detail, and a commitment to supporting a welcoming environment for patrons and staff.

Qualifications

• Experience with general custodial duties, including cleaning, sanitizing, and maintaining floors, restrooms, and common areas.
• Ability to use basic cleaning tools and equipment safely (e.g., vacuums, floor buffers, cleaning chemicals) and follow established procedures.
• Strong attention to detail, time management skills, and ability to prioritize tasks in a busy public environment.
• Physical ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and carry materials and equipment as needed throughout a work shift.
• Dependable work habits, punctuality, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Clear and courteous communication skills for interacting with staff, patrons, and vendors.
