Job summary

The Salvation Army Allentown Corps is seeking a Custodian to maintain a clean and safe environment for staff and program participants. The role is part-time plus with a Monday–Friday schedule; hours may vary and start is ASAP.

The successful candidate will handle janitorial duties, snow removal in winter, deliveries, and inventory. Bilingual Spanish/English preferred; must pass background checks and support the Salvation Army mission.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Ability to carry up to 50 lbs and operate janitorial equipment.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 (Word/Outlook/Excel/PowerPoint/Publisher).
• Bilingual preferred; fluent in Spanish and English.
• Able to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Maintain janitorial/cleaning functions for the facility and grounds.
• Snow removal from sidewalks and parking areas in winter.
• Receive and store deliveries and manage supplies.
• Assist with special projects and events as needed.
• Be on call for cleaning, operation, and safety concerns.

Reporting Relationship: Corps Officers; Shelter Director

Salary and Grade: $15.00 per hour; 70 Non-Exempt

Responsibilities

Position Overview: The function of the Custodian is to maintain a clean and safe environment at all times for the program participants and the staff of the Salvation Army's Rich Fleming Hospitality House and Family Shelter.

Description of Position:

• Maintains the janitorial/cleaning functions of the Rich Fleming Hospitality House and Family Shelter located at 344 N. 7th Street. This includes the building and the corresponding grounds.
• During the winter months this includes snow removal from the sidewalks surrounding the building and parking lot area.
• Receives and stores properly deliveries.
• Maintains janitorial supplies inventory.
• Provides assistance with special projects and events.
• Is on call for problems or concerns related to the cleaning, operation and safety of the building.
• Performs related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Requirements:

• High School Diploma or GED
• Ability to carry up to 50 lbs.
• Can operate janitorial equipment.
• Knowleege of Microsoft Office 360 (Word, Outlook, Excel, Powepoint, Publisher)
• Bilingual preferred; Able to read, write, and speak Spanish and English fluently
• Able to work with hand tools and small power tools as needed.
• Able to handle various types of equipment- buffing machine, vacuum, leaf blower, lawn mower, etc.
• Must treat all people with compassion and respect.
• Must be able to work independently.
• Pennsylvania's Child Protective Services Law requires that all prospective employees complete the following clearance and background checks: PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check, and PA DHS Criminal Record/Fingerprint Check. In addition, completion of a Pennsylvania approved Child Abuse Recognition and Reporting Training is necessary prior to employment.
• Must understand and support for the Mission of The Salvation Army.
