East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania is seeking a Custodial Worker 1 to perform routine custodial care for university buildings and grounds. The role emphasizes combining custodial and maintenance tasks while safely using cleaning products to sanitize areas.

The position is Monday through Friday (Friday to Tuesday) 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with occasional schedule flex. Indoor work dominates; some outdoor work occurs in snow or rain.

Responsibilities

• Sweeps, mops, vacuums, scrubs, waxes, and buffs floors.
• Cleans, dusts, and polishes furniture and fixtures.
• Washes and cleans windows, walls, and doors.
• Cleans toilets, sinks, and mirrors in restrooms and replaces restroom supplies.
• Uses custodial tools and equipment for cleaning tasks.
• Disposes waste, recyclables, infectious waste, and hazardous materials per safety guidelines.
• Moves furniture and equipment as needed to perform tasks.
• Secures and maintains cleaning equipment; requests and stores supplies.
• Reports repairs to crew leader or supervisor.
• Shovels snow, cleans walks, and maintains outside premises.
• Performs incidental tasks like changing lightbulbs and simple repairs.
• Documents work performed.

Job description

As the Custodial Worker 1, you will need to think creatively and be comfortable completing routine custodial care for the University Buildings and surrounding grounds. You will be an active member of the Facilities Management team and will work closely with the Manager of Building Care Services to help achieve consistent building care for ESU. You will thrive in this role if you like combining your custodial and maintenance experience while safely using cleaning products to sanitize the buildings and surrounding area. To be successful in this role, you must be self-motivated, detail-oriented, and have time management skills.

Your normal hours will be Friday to Tuesday 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. You may have to flex your schedule from time to time based on the needs of the business to be a true Custodial Worker 1. Indoor work is 90% of the role with 10% of the role occasionally completed outside in the snow and or rain. When our team shows up for work, they are energized and motivated to succeed - all while being the most crucial piece to keeping the ESU operations humming.

What Will I Do At ESU? (AKA Essential Duties)

• Sweeps, mops, vacuums, scrubs, waxes, and buffs floors.
• Cleans, dusts, and polishes furniture and fixtures.
• Washes and cleans windows, walls, and doors.
• Cleans toilets, sinks, and mirrors in restrooms and replaces restroom supplies.
• Utilizes tools and equipment of the custodial trade in the performance of cleaning tasks.
• Gathers and disposes of waste products, recyclable materials, infectious waste, and hazardous materials according to safe material handling guidelines.
• Moves furniture and equipment when necessary to perform custodial tasks.
• Secures and maintains cleaning equipment; requests, picks up, and stores related supplies.
• Reports needed repairs to crew leader or supervisor.
• Shovels snow, sweeps and cleans walks, and assists in keeping immediate outside premises and building entrances in an orderly condition.
• Performs incidental assignments, such as removing ashes, replacing lightbulbs, and making simple repairs.
• Documents work performed.
