Job summary

Southern New Hampshire University is seeking a Custodial Technician to help create a safe, hygienic, and welcoming learning environment on campus. This 2nd shift onsite role reports to the Custodial Services Lead and focuses on cleaning, disinfection, and infection prevention to support student experience.

The position requires English literacy and at least 6 months of custodial experience. Schedule is Monday–Friday, 3:30pm–12am EST, with competitive hourly pay and a strong benefits package.

The opportunity

The Custodial Technician is responsible for executing the daily duties required to establish and maintain a safe, hygienic, and aesthetically pleasing learning environment. While executing the assigned tasks, the Custodial Technician has contact with students, visitors, and office staff. Responsible for ensuring timely area turns related to students throughout within the basic principles of environmental hygiene and infection prevention. This role in accordance with organizational standards of quality, is an essential contributor to cleaning, disinfection, infection prevention and student experience.

The Custodial Technician is a 2nd shift position that reports to our Custodial Services Lead and executes the daily responsibilities required to establish a safe, hygienic, and aesthetically pleasing learning environment. While completing the assigned tasks, you will have contact with students, visitors, and office staff. You will need to ensure areas related to students throughout campus are within the basic principles of environmental hygiene and infection prevention. This role following organizational standards of quality, is an essential contributor to cleaning, disinfection, infection prevention and student experience.

This is an onsite role. Available Shifts: Monday - Friday: 3:30pm-12am EST

What you'll do

• Responsible for the daily, vacant, and deep cleaning and disinfection of student areas, equipment as assigned and other common areas of assignment.
• Perform responsibilities while demonstrating working knowledge of the organizational cleaning and disinfecting principles and requirements, proper and safe chemical use, equipment handling, and labor-saving products for all items within the environment for which tasked with servicing.
• Follow all organization safety, risk management, and infection control guidelines while promoting a culture of safety.
• Participate in departmental performance improvement programs, to help us improve student experience and cleanliness metrics.
• Maintain cleaning cart(s), supplies, and equipment evidence by stocking and restocking housekeeping services cart in a neat and orderly fashion.
• Remove waste and transport to the appropriate disposal area while identifying proper waste streams handling (i.e., regulated medical, recycle, solid, and hazardous).
• Follow all infection prevention practices (i.e., proper cleaning and disinfection protocols and process, hand hygiene, standard and isolation precautions, and proper donning and doffing of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• Recognize and follow student privacy requirements (FERPA).
• Use appropriate resources to ensure identified problems or concerns are followed through and resolved.
• Demonstrate knowledge of facility safety requirements.
• Operate and maintain all housekeeping tools and equipment needed to clean and disinfect the environment.
• May be asked to perform specialty tasks according to facility needs including tasks such as conference room set up/dismantle according to function sheets and schedules, cleaning of stairwells and elevators, and hanging of window/shower curtains.
• May be asked to assist us with onboarding of new Level I technicians Use computers or mobile devices for daily job performance activities.
• Other responsibilities as assigned.

Compensation

The hourly pay range for this position is $15.87 - $25.41. Actual offer will be based on skills, qualifications, experience and internal equity, in addition to relevant business considerations.

We expect this position to be hired in the following target hiring range $17.54 - $23.74.
