Job summary

The Greater Austin YMCA is seeking a Custodial Team Member (East Communities) in Austin, TX. This role supports daily custodial tasks, facility upkeep, and guest readiness while upholding the YMCA mission. Flexible schedule with up to 28 hours per week, starting at $15–$16/hour depending on experience.

Ideal candidates are 18+, with a HS diploma or GED, able to lift 20 pounds, and willing to work collaboratively in a team environment. Previous custodial work is a plus but not required.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old and hold a high school diploma or GED.
• Ability to operate cleaning equipment and lift up to 20 pounds.
• Custodial or maintenance experience is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming center environment and complete custodial tasks.
• Keep supply areas stocked with paper towels, soap, sanitizer, and other supplies.
• Communicate maintenance needs to center leadership and suggest solutions.
• Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance checks.
• Represent the YMCA’s culture and mission in interactions with members and staff.

Why Your Role Matters

As an Custodial Team Member, you will play an essential role in maintaining the appearance and cleanliness of our facilities through daily custodial and maintenance support. From keeping spaces spotless to ensuring supplies are stocked and facilities are guest-ready, your work helps create a positive experience for everyone who walks through our doors.

We are seeking someone who can work a flexible schedule, with availability of up to 28 hours per week.

How You Will Make an Impact

• Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming center environment by prioritizing and completing custodial tasks such as dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, restroom cleaning, and cleaning ceiling vents.
• Communicate facility maintenance needs and operational concerns to center leadership and provide recommended solutions when appropriate .
• Conduct routine facility inspections and preventative maintenance checks to support the overall upkeep and functionality of the center .
• Ensure designated supply areas remain fully stocked with necessary items including paper towels, soap, sanitizer, and other custodial supplies.
• Empty, clean, and maintain waste receptacles throughout the center .
• Maintain custodial storage areas in a clean, organized, and orderly manner.
• Demonstrate and model the YMCA’s mission, vision, and values in all interactions with members, participants, staff, and guests.
• Serve as an ambassador of the YMCA’s culture and impact by positively representing the organization and sharing our mission-driven work with others.
• Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
