Job summary

The Greater Austin YMCA welcomes Welcome Center Team Members to greet members and visitors, answer questions, and ensure a positive experience at the front desk. As the first smile guests see, you drive member satisfaction and contribute to a friendly, inclusive atmosphere.

We’re seeking team players who can work midday, evenings, and weekends. Bilingual English and Tamil candidates are preferred and training aligns with the Y’s mission of wellness and community impact.

Qualifications

• Minimum age 16 years.
• Experience in customer service.
• Bilingual (English and Tamil) preferred.
• Team player with a positive, service-oriented attitude.
• Organized and able to prioritize multiple tasks.
• Good listening, speaking and writing skills.
• Fosters inclusion and belonging.

Responsibilities

• Actively engage and greet each member/guest entering the YMCA.
• Occasionally open or close the facility and perform key-holding duties.
• Provide excellent service to members, guests and program participants in person and on the phone.
• Contribute to member retention by delivering quality service.
• Provide tours to potential new members using Listen to First during tours.
• Follow branch protocols for prospective members.
• Stay informed of branch activities and schedules to offer exceptional service.
• Handle and resolve membership concerns and report unresolved issues to supervisor.
• Reconcile end-of-shift money from membership, merchandise, mini-camps and registrations.
• Promote the YMCA's mission, wellness philosophy and community role.
• Lead by example in line with Y's mission and values with participants, members and staff.
• Be an ambassador of the Y and its culture.
• Complete other duties as assigned.

Our Welcome Center Team is the heart of the facility! Our Welcome Center Team Members are info specialists, problem solvers, and the first smile our members, visitors, and participants see when they enter the building! As a Welcome Center Team Member, you're the front-line support for members and help ensure they're satisfied with our programs, services, and experience. Most importantly, you are part of someone's journey in pursuing their well-being and health.

We’re looking for team members who are available to work midday, evening, and weekend shifts!

How You Will Make an Impact

• Actively engage and greet each member/guest who comes into the YMCA.
• Occasionally open or close the facility and have key-holding duties.
• Provide excellent service to members, guests, and program participants in the Y and on the phone, contributing to member retention.
• Provide Cause-driven tours to potential new members and use "Listen to First" skills before and during the tour.
• Follow and lead branch protocols for prospective members.
• Keep informed of all branch activities & schedules in order to provide exceptional member service.
• Handle and resolve membership concerns and inform the supervisor of unusual situations or unresolved issues.
• Reconcile end-of-shift money received through the sale of membership, merchandise, mini-camp, and program registrations.
• Promote the YMCA's character values, mission, wellness philosophy, and role in the community.
• Lead by example the Y's mission, vision, and values with program participants, members, staff, and guests.
• Become an Ambassador of the Y's work and culture by being the ultimate storyteller of who we are as an organization and brand.
• Complete other duties as assigned.

What You Bring to the Y

Pay Range

$15 - $16 per hour, DOE
