Job Summary:Coordinates and supervises the performance of housekeeping and custodial duties while maintaining records of hours worked by employees. Performs various administrative duties, and ensures compliance with departmental contracts, policies, and procedures.Essential Functions:40% Supervises employees and inspects buildings to evaluate employee job performance and enforce compliance with contracts,policies, and procedures.20% Performs various administrative duties including maintaining personnel records, developing and monitoring the departments.budget, preparing reports, managing supply orders, and controlling inventory.15% Anticipates the housekeeping and custodial needs of the University to plan and coordinate daily work activities effectively.Develops programs and policies to create a safe and clean environment for the campus community.15% Provides training and instruction to housekeeping and custodial employees while managing employee work schedules andrecording employee hours.10% Cooperates with other departments, students, and the general public to solve problems, communicate information, andmaintain good public relations.Additional Position Information:Education:Requires high school diploma.Licenses/Certifications/Requirements:Valid Driver’s License. Regular schedule changes may be necessary—a minimum of forty hours of mandatory overtime per calendar year is required.Experience:Requires a minimum of 1 year of experience in housekeeping/custodial operations and the ability to train and supervise employees.Knowledge of relevant safety practices, inventory control, budgeting, public relations, and record-keeping required. Strongcommunication, and problem-solving skills, and the ability to perform general managerial duties required. General PC knowledge is required. Must be computer literate with proficiency and working knowledge of database and reporting tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.Leadership:Direct supervision and evaluation of work as a first-line supervisor over non-exempt staff including hiring, terminating,disciplining, or functional guidance and/or project leadership over exempt staff engaged in activities regularly.Physical Requirements:Light physical effort is required involving stooping and bending; the individual has limited discretion about walking, standing, etc.occasionally lifting of lightweight objects (up to 25 lbs.).Working Conditions:Occasional minor discomforts from exposure to less-than-optimal temperatures and air conditions. May involve occasionalexposure to dust, fumes, or outside weather conditions, and/or frequent driving of a vehicle (50% or more of the time).Shift Available: Monday–Friday, 3:00 p.m.-11:30 p.m. Initial training will be conducted on first shift (6:00 a.m.- 2:30 p.m.).
