Job summary

VW International in Birmingham, AL is seeking a Janitor to perform custodial services at the U.S. Coast Guard TRACEN Birmingham Southern campus.

You will clean restrooms, floors, and public areas, restock supplies, and report maintenance issues as needed. The role requires 1–2 years of janitorial experience in federal or high-traffic environments, knowledge of CDC cleaning protocols, and the ability to pass background checks, drug screening, and obtain immunizations.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years of janitorial/housekeeping work in federal or high-traffic environments.
• Knowledge of CDC-aligned cleaning protocols, including biohazard disposal and dwell time compliance.
• Ability to pass a comprehensive background check and drug screening; comply with site security policies.
• Have or obtain required immunizations.

Responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize bathrooms, waiting areas, and other designated areas.
• Dust, sweep, mop, and vacuum floors in hallways and common areas.
• Collect and dispose of trash following infection control guidelines.
• Restock towels, toilet paper, soap, and other supplies; monitor inventory and notify supervisor when replenishment is needed.
• Report maintenance issues to the appropriate department for prompt resolution.
• Follow procedures for handling biohazardous materials and infection control practices.
• Assist with setup and breakdown of events or meetings as required.
• Adhere to safety precautions to protect patients, staff, and visitors.
