Job summary

Cushman & Wakefield is seeking a Janitorial Manager in the United States to lead and develop the custodial team while ensuring highest cleanliness, safety, and service quality. This role oversees daily operations and supports performance, with flexibility to perform cleaning duties as needed.

The position requires strong leadership, organizational skills, and a commitment to safety. Supervises custodial services across client properties, with emphasis on teamwork and operational excellence.

Qualifications

• Five years of janitorial management experience.
• Experience supervising a team of 20+ employees.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Ability to read and follow written and verbal instructions.
• Strong interpersonal skills for customer, managers, and coworkers.
• Ability to estimate labor hours, materials, and visualize project requirements.
• Strong planning, organizational, and decision-making capabilities.
• Ability to interpret blueprints and shop drawings.
• Commitment to safety and the proper use of equipment and cleaning products.
• Ability to lift and carry objects up to 50 pounds.
• Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Lead, supervise, and support custodial team members to ensure high-quality cleaning tasks.
• Evaluate performance and provide coaching and advancement recommendations.
• Provide training and skill development for new hires and existing staff.
• Promote teamwork and maintain a positive, productive work environment.
• Oversee daily operational reporting, including customer concerns and service updates.
• Ensure work assignments and shifts are executed effectively and adapt to changing needs.
• Perform cleaning services as needed to support operations.
• Mix and apply detergents and cleaning solutions according to required specs.
• Operate cleaning equipment such as buffers and vacuums.
• Monitor safety compliance and report hazards, repair needs, or maintenance promptly.
• Ensure adherence to safety practices and industry standards across the team.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment for internal customers and team members.
• Manage departmental administrative tasks, including ordering materials and processing timecards.
• Assist with scheduling, inventory management, and operational planning.
• Demonstrate strong internal customer service skills by listening and addressing concerns.
• Make informed decisions and balance multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
