Job summary

Center for Digital Governmtent in Annapolis, MD is seeking a custodial worker to perform routine cleaning and maintenance of public buildings and grounds. You will sweep, mop, wax floors, clean restrooms, water plants, and assist with minor repairs, with duties tied to established cleanliness and safety standards.

The role requires following written and oral instructions, working with fellow staff, and lifting heavy items.

Qualifications

• Some knowledge of cleaning materials, methods, equipment, and procedures.
• Ability to learn the operation and care of vacuum cleaners, scrubbing machines, polishing machines, lawn mowers, and other buildings and grounds custodial equipment.
• Ability to exercise care in the use of cleaning materials and equipment.
• Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates.

Responsibilities

• Sweeps, mops, waxes, and polishes floors; washes walls, woodwork, and venetian blinds; dusts books and desks.
• Plants, fertilizes, and waters flower beds, grass, and shrubbery; shovels snow.
• Opens and closes buildings; loads and unloads materials.
• Operates routine equipment and machinery.
• Assists with stocking and storing of supplies, and loading/unloading janitorial and other supplies.
• Performs related work as required.
